mmm kevin feels good

Well I dont know if you watch Australian news (and why would you) but to fight the 'recession' our PM Kevin Rudd is stimulating us hardworking Australians (wait havent I been in Canada the last year...) with $900 each. Well either Brendan or I got stimulated today so we decided what better way to improve the Australian economy by spending it on brand new snowboard pants in Canada!!!

On other news we went up the hill today and the snow was shit. 2cm of fresh powder on a sheet of ice. Lasted one run then decided to call it quits and went to the Rose & Crown for lunch. Ran into some coors reps who bought us a round of beer.

All in all a productive day!

I never thought that I would love snow so much. Coming from Darwin which is always hot & humid and I love it it seems strange I would enjoy frolicking in - degree temperatures. I really dont know how I am going to cope once I get back home. I will have to plan a couple of trips to NZ or maybe even Japan! Its definately going to be hard to top my winter here in Banff thats for sure..

I know I said it was Spring...

Just as you thought it was Spring Banff goes and lays another 13cm of snow on you. Somebody once said to me in Banff its winter 8 months of the year and something else for the rest! I have no idea..

Anyway Taki and I went up to Sunshine Village for the morning to enjoy the fresh snow and get some exercise/boarding in. I ended up in a huge pocket of powder and had to take my board off I was stuck. I did this massive face plant and snow ended up everything in my goggles, down my shirt. Ugh I really need to buy some better powder protecting clothes with the amount of times I fall over.

We picked up two hitchhikers on the way there a couple of guys from Ontario. We also picked up some guys on the way back who were from Victoria, Australia. They seemed pretty interesting they both had waterski instructor jobs for the summer in Toronto.

I've had a few flatmate issues lately so I'm not sure whats happening. We really dont have the money to rush off east and I hate to dig into my Aussie savings. Alaska & my sister kind of wiped us out! Hopefully we can ride this issue out and stay in Banff till June/July. Really have to move on soon though..

Spring is here!

How exciting my first spring! And its actually as awesome as people pretend it is.

for those of you wondering why I never have spring. My hometown Darwin is right near the equator. Its always 30C and the sun always sets and rises at the same time every year

I saw a little bird today!

The sky is so clear & blue
I can throw away my winter jacket!
People are just happier!!!
The snow is melting (ok thats a bad point)
Did I mention the days are warmer?
Gosh Banff is gorgeous in the spring!
The days are lasting longer, sun set at 8:30pm! and counting!!!
